Campus activities have been organized in many universities and colleges.
These activities range from academie to recreational,such as academic
reports, speech contests, poet’s club, painting clubs、singing and dancing groups, etc.
These activities provide students with two major advantages. First of all, they play a positive role in improving students’ studies. Due to their heavy schedules, students are often buried in textbooks and seldom expose themselves to a colorful life. But the various activities provide opportunities for them to relax themselves and enrich their minds. In addition, the activities also serve students living in the “ivory tower” more chances to get in touch with society. From these activities, the participants have to leave the classroom and get to know the society.
All these offer an important means for students to broaden their horizons. By .participating in campus activities, they have fulfilled university life and in turn help campus activities to .grow and flourish.

When we read the amusement news, we may be shocked by the exposing income of the pop singers, the highest incomes of a pop singer in a year could be more than 1 billion dollar, and even the average income could be more than a normal person’s lifetime fortune. Some people think the pop singers should not deserve so much incomes, my view is on the opposite.
當我們看娛樂新聞的時候，可能會對披露的流行歌手的高收入感到震驚，其中最高收入的流行歌手的一年收入可能超過一億美元，即使普通的流行歌手收入可能比一個普通人一生的收入還高。一些人認為流行歌手不應該得到這么高的收入，我的看法剛剛相反。
One reason of the pop singers deserve high incomes is that their music brings people great joy and happiness. We couldn’t live without music. When we go to the street, we can find that music is everywhere, the shop; the market and the restaurant are playing music. Music can relieve people’s mood, when they go out of the office, they need to relax themselves, and music is the helpful medicine. As music is so important to our life, the one who creates them deserves owning a lot of money.
其中一個關于流行歌手值得收入這么高的原因在于他們的音樂給人們帶來了享受和愉悅。我們離不開音樂，當我們走在街上的時候，發現音樂無處不在。音樂能舒緩人們的心情，當他們走出辦公室，需要放松，音樂就是有用的藥方。正因為音樂對我們的.生活如此重要，創造它們的人值得擁有很多錢。
Another reason of the pop singers deserve high income is that they make a contribution to the social economy. It is said that Britney Spears promotes American economy, because she is so popular around the world. What the pop singers gets is less than they do to the society, so they worth owning the high pay.
另外一個流行歌手值得擁有高收入的理由在于他們對社會經濟有貢獻。據說布蘭妮促進了美國的經濟發展，因為她的音樂在全世界廣受歡迎。流行歌手得到的遠少于他們對社會做出的貢獻，因此他們值得擁有高收入。
The pop singers are getting high incomes, but we have to see the cruel fact that only small part of them can do this, the leftover are struggling for survive. So the successful part deserves high incomes.

In China, many people believe that some numbers can bring good luck, while some are often connected with misfortune. For example, number 6 in China usually means “doing things smoothly”, number 8 means “make a fortune”, and number 10 means “prefect”. While the number such as 4, usually means “death” because its pronunciation is similar with the Chinese character Si. Therefore, the superstitious people will try their best not to choose telephone numbers or car plate numbers or door numbers which are contain with 4. And the people usually will not have their wedding on 4th. People believe those numbers have magic power, which can bring them good luck or bad luck.
在中國，許多人相信一些數字能給人帶來好運氣，而另一些則不太吉利。比如說，數字6在中國表示“六六大順”；數字8表示“掙大錢，大家發”，數字10則表示“十全十美”。而數字4，因為其發音與中文中的“死”字相近，所以被認為不吉利。因此，迷信的人們盡量避免自己的電話號碼、車牌號碼或是門牌號碼含有數字4，人們通常也不會在4號舉行婚禮。他們相信，這些數字是有魔力的，能給人帶來好運氣或壞運氣。
In my humble opinion, I do not think these so-called lucky numbers can bring people good luck. Number stand for nothing but quantity. They are only some arbitrary symbols used for communication. Our ancestors created numbers for counting, not for luck. People believe number 8 can bring good fortune is only because the pronunciation of eight has almost the same sound of “fa cai” in Cantonese. The ironic part is the people who choose the number on purpose do not always make big money, while the people whose telephone numbers or car plate numbers contain 4 do not kick their buckets. Shakespeare said, “If we call a rose by any other name, it would smell sweet as well.” This means there is no connection between sound and meaning. So it’s no good to believe that number has something to do with the luck.
在我看來，我不認為這些所謂的“幸運數字”能給人們帶來好運。數字值代表數量。它們不過是一些為了溝通交流而產生的任意符號。我們的祖先創造數字是為了記熟而不是為了運氣。人們之所以相信數字8能給人帶來好運氣是因為“八”的發音與廣東話“發財”的發音幾乎一樣。最諷刺的是那些故意選了數字8最為電話號碼、車牌號碼的人也沒有一直賺大錢發大財，而那些選擇了數字4的.人也都活得好好的。莎士比亞曾說過：“如果我們把‘玫瑰’稱為其他的名字，它依舊香甜。”這意味著發音與詞義沒有很大的聯系。所以，一味的相信數字能帶來好運氣不是一件好事情。
To sum up, we should believe in our personal ability instead of so-called lucky numbers, as a proverb goes, “Man proposes, God disposes.”
總得來說，我們應該相信個人能力，而不是這些所謂的“幸運”數字。就像俗話說的那樣——謀事在人，成事在天。
